Bankruptcy Attorney at law Fees – Get The Best Deal

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

One of the most difficult questions you face if you are considering going bankrupt is whether or not to get specialized advice and in some cases this means paying for the services of a bankruptcy legal professional.

Bankruptcy attorney fees will vary hugely, based on your individual unique situation.  Personal bankruptcies may be less expensive. Here are some tips to help you if this is something that you are looking into.

The first thing to remember is that you will be very vulnerable at the moment.  You are susceptible to people who know that you are in a distressed state and will feed on that. Understanding this will make you less vulnerable. If a lawyer’s fee looks too good to be true then you can be assured that it is just that, steer clear.

Contact three attorneys and obtain an estimate from them.

Investigate each of the three. This is very simply done by checking them out on the Internet, and checking their qualifications with the various organizations that they have graduated from.

As well as checking out their company name, always make sure to look into the names of their directors and other people on their board.  This does not take very long to do. But is truly well worth the effort.

Many lawyers will offer a free of charge initial consultation call, that you should use. I would not consider using a company without having done this in the first place.

When you do get a price from them, insist that they cannot go over that amount, or spend any more money on your behalf unless they have written communication from you agreeing to the excess amount and the service it will be going toward.  This is crucial.Your legal representation must not spend more than has been agreed without your full knowledge and agreement.

Professional representation during a time like this can be a a very good thing.  There are lots of extremely good organisations around that can facilitate you during this time. Don’t be afraid about using them, but please do your homework as I have outlined above, before you engage a company or person to help you.
